KENTS CAVERN
Cave of Inscriptions
(see the image at the top)
"MERLIN'S CAVE"
We visited Kent's Cavern
in September, 2005
to examine some things
in the cave personally
and to give the Cavern
our name "Merlin's Cave".
This is a "fun" page.
Look at the strange shape of the cave.
Was a natural cave expanded
to show a specific form?
Kents Cavern is the oldest
"recognizable" human dwelling
in Ancient Britain. It is a labyrinth worthy of King Menes and the
Minotaur. Together with nearby Denbury, Kents Cavern represents perhaps
the
most astounding archaeological site in Ancient Britain.
Ancient legends on the Exmoor tell of a "Mother Meldrum", an ancient
witch or shaman, who lived half the year in one cave and half the year
in another cave. We equate MELDRUM with the fabled Merlin and with
Aesculapius, legendary physician on the Argo, for Kents Cavern has a
room carved with Siamese Twins (the room
Clinnicks Gallery).
The two caves recalled in legend were in our opinion Paviland on the
coast in South Wales and Kents Cavern on the protected Tor Bay in
Devon, England. Merlin, for so we shall call the man responsible, used
the cave at Paviland in the summer. Paviland Cave is where the first
known shaman in Europe was buried in prehistoric times and where the
oldest prehistoric human bones in all of Europe have been found,
together with mastodon bones and a necklace from Africa - all surely
souvenirs from a world-wide geodetic survey journey in ca. 3117 BC.
Merlin then used Kents Cavern in winter to escape the cold, and he and
his merry men carved this cave in the image of their world. A virtual
visit to Kents Cavern
visit Kents Cavern
is essential after you read this page.
Especially "The Face"
must be seen.
At Kents Cavern it appears that a pre-existing original but smaller
cave was used as a winter dwelling place, and this cave was then
expanded in the course of many "sculpting winters" by adding specially
shaped "rooms" to represent the results of geodetic astronomy, i.e. the
measurement of the Earth by astronomical means. The "plans" for the
cave and for the megaliths in Ancient Britain are found above ground at
nearby Denbury as earthworks. All of the rooms of Kents Cavern have
figures sculpted on the walls. The shapes of these rooms and the
figures found sculpted on their walls are man-made and intended to look
as they do.
Moreover, it appears that some of the stones found elsewhere in Ancient
Britain as megaliths above ground, are stones originally sculpted in
Kents Cavern during those long winters, the most important of these
being e.g. Barclodiad y Gawres, Arthur's Stone Maen Ceti, the Pavo
Calderstone, and the Mayburgh Stone. We predict that geological
examination of some of these stones may even show that the actual stone
material comes directly from within Kents Cavern.
Moreover, the entire shape of the cave as a whole is man-made and
intended, representing both Heaven and Earth, using an artistic
technique similar to M.C. Escher, where black AND white interlocking
elements each have their own representational form. It is all a work of
supreme genius, unlike anything found anywhere else in the world. The
man who did these things was a human mind of the first rank - in the
STONE AGE - finding few equals even in the modern world. We find that
Merlin left his "portrait" in stone at Kents Cavern, where it is known
as "The Face". This self-portrait was his monument to the later world -
for his astronomical and geodetic works.
As
shown in the first graphic at the top of the page, the room of the
cavern called "The Cave of Inscriptions" shows the stars of the heavens
from the Pleiades to Pavo, thus covering one-quarter of the sky. The
central flat "table" stone in that room, carved out of solid rock, is
surely the original "Round Table" of King Arthur and his Knights of the
Round Table, whom we equate with King Orry [= Hor-Aha, King Arthur] ,
the king who is buried on the Island of Man and who succeeded Merlin [=
Nar-MER, NARAM-Sin, Scorpion King (Ophiuchus)] in the days when the
Earth was first measured and when ancient seafarers gave this knowledge
to the world they visited, acts recorded at each locality by means of
megaliths and legends.
This ancient
measurement of the world by astronomy was in fact recorded in ancient
legend as the adventures of Jason and the Argonauts, for argos meant
"earth, clay".
