The sites of Ballylowra and Ballyvatheen in County Kilkenny, Ireland, represent Taurus. At the site of Ballylowra, the rock drawing of the wild pig or boar is quite distinct. Irish Gaelic TORC is a boar and hence we have a good match between the term TORC and the name of the stellar constellationTAURUS which the stone(s) at Ballylowra in County Kilkenny represent, with the large carved rock being the wild pig and the small stones below and to the right of this rock being the piglets as the Hyades weaning on the wild pig. Only one of the piglets appears to be in its original position, the rest of the small stones having fallen. The line of four stars at the bottom and to the right of Gemini and to the left of Taurus are shown as four separate protruding stones in the megalithic picture of this region of the skies. |
